FOUNDATION HISTORY
Desaiganj (Wadsa), a Tahasil place situated on the bank of Wainganga River on the
borders of Chadrapur, Bhandara and Gondia District had no faculty of higher education
in any stream upto 1989. The rural-tribal people residing in the area of 10 to12
kilometers around were leading most backward life, far back from today’s knowledge-oriented
modern society, encircled by many social evils, superstitions, outdated customs, etc. They
were unable to send their children for higher education in the colleges situated far away
from their native places due to poverty and lack of awareness. Deeply touched by the backward
condition of these residents our management, i.e., Nutan Shikshan Prasarak Mandal realized the
urgent need of the faculty of higher education in the area. Having the experience in the field
of education, being already running one high school and junior College since 1958 and 1984 respectively,
the management decided to start senior college. Thus Adarsh Arts & Commerce College came into existence
in Desaiganj in 1989-90.
